Profit: what the business actually earned

What this page is for

The dashboard and the summary report answer one question: how much did the marketplace leave you. The «Финансы» section answers a different one: how much did the business earn. The gap between them is everything Uzum cannot see — warehouse rent, salaries, taxes, packaging, contractors.

While those costs live outside the reports, they get counted separately: export the numbers from MyProfit, add your own, and work out the real figure by hand every month. The «Прибыль» tab exists so that you no longer have to.

The MyProfit interface on this page is in Russian, so the on-screen labels are quoted here as they appear.

The rows of the report

The report reads top to bottom — from revenue to what is left.

  • «Выручка» — sales for the period, before Uzum’s deductions.
  • «Комиссия Uzum» — the commission the marketplace withheld.
  • «Себестоимость» — the purchase cost of the goods sold.
  • «Расходы маркетплейса» — Uzum’s five deductions together: «Логистика (Uzum)», «Хранение (Uzum)», «Маркетинг (Uzum)», «Штрафы (Uzum)» and «Прочие услуги (Uzum)».
  • «Операционная прибыль» — revenue minus everything above.
  • «Собственные расходы» — the costs you entered yourself, under your own categories.
  • «Чистая прибыль» — operational profit minus your own costs.
  • «ROI, %» — the return on the cost of goods.

«Комиссия Uzum» and «Себестоимость» are rows of their own rather than expense items: neither carries a group or a cost type. Commission is deliberately not folded into «Прочие услуги» — that would break the reconciliation against the expense export you download from Uzum.

Two profits, and why there are two

«Операционная прибыль» is what is left after the marketplace. «Чистая прибыль» is what is left after your own costs.

Both rows are shown on purpose. Own costs are subtracted here and nowhere else — the dashboard, the profitability report and the summary report do not know about them yet. One label over two different numbers would read as an error in the figures.

«Чистая прибыль» here and in the profit-formula article

In how profit is calculated, net profit is the profit on an order: revenue minus commission, the logistics fee, the fulfilment fee, VAT, storage and the cost of goods. That is marketplace profit.

Here, «Чистая прибыль» is the business profit for a period: the same arithmetic, and then rent, salaries, taxes and the rest of your costs on top. The two numbers legitimately differ because they answer different questions: the first is “what does this product bring in”, the second is “what does the business keep”.

Reconcile against the summary report

«Операционная прибыль» here and the same figure in the summary report are one number for one period: both pages read the same daily data and compute it through the same formula.

There is no need to reconcile it against the profitability report. That one is computed per article, keys on a different date and deducts none of the marketplace buckets, so a difference there is not an error.

Days, weeks, months

The «Дни» / «Недели» / «Месяцы» selector changes the columns only. The «Итого» column is the same money at every grain.

The chosen grain is remembered until next time; the date range is not — it opens on the current month every time.

Fixed and variable

Every category of yours carries a cost type — «Переменные» or «Постоянные» — and the report gathers them into two blocks.

«Постоянные» is the base that sales have to cover: rent, salaries, subscriptions. MyProfit does not compute the break-even point for you, but it gives you the number the calculation needs.

All five of Uzum’s deductions count as variable. That makes «Постоянные» exactly your own fixed base, with nothing of the marketplace mixed in.

Business-wide costs are split across shops

A cost entered as «Общие» belongs to no single shop. It is split across your shops in proportion to each one’s revenue in the calendar month the cost’s day falls into, and the parts always add back up to exactly the amount you entered.

Two properties of that split are worth knowing in advance:

  • Filtering to one shop does not change that shop’s share. The shares are computed across all of your shops, and the filter merely selects from the finished result. Otherwise a single shop opened on its own would take the whole business-wide cost.
  • A month without revenue does not lose the cost. If no shop earned anything that month, the amount is split equally across your shops.

Why a colleague sees a different number

The costs you enter are visible only to the person who entered them. An owner and an employee with access to the same shops will read different «Чистая прибыль», and that is not a bug.

It is deliberate: «Зарплата» is one of the first categories any seller creates, and it should not open up to everyone who has access to a shop. More on this in shared shop access.

Costs outside Uzum

Costs on your own sources — another marketplace, an offline point, your own site — land in the «Расходы вне Uzum» row below net profit and enter no subtotal. The note under the row says the same thing: «Не вычитаются из прибыли Uzum».

That is how it should be: deducting another channel’s costs from Uzum profit would understate one channel and overstate the other.
