Three screens, three different questions
Returns appear in three places in MyProfit. This is not duplication — each screen answers its own question. The MyProfit interface is in Russian, so screen labels are given in quotes below.
- «Документы» → «Возвраты» — the returns Uzum issued: what came back, when, and against which order. This is the primary list, closest to what physically happened.
- «Юнит-экономика» → «Возвраты» — the return rate per Артикул. Answers “which product gets returned more than the others”.
- «Отчеты» → «Возвраты по периодам» — the same returns by month. Answers “did this get worse, or has it always been like this”.
Start with the last one: the monthly trend shows whether this is a one-off spike or a standing problem. Only then go to unit economics to find the specific Артикул.
Why a return costs more than one lost sale
A return does not simply cancel a sale — it leaves behind costs you have already paid:
- Delivery to the buyer already happened and has already been paid for.
- The item spends time travelling back, and during that time it does not sell, even though it is physically yours.
- It may come back in a condition that cannot be sold again.
An Артикул with a high return rate can therefore look profitable on price and still bring in almost nothing. Read the return rate next to profitability, not on its own.
What to do about a high return rate
High returns almost always mean the buyer’s expectation did not match the product. Common causes: sizing that differs from what was stated, photographs that flatter the colour, an incomplete description of what is included.
A return and a lost item are different things. If the item never came back to you and was not sold, it is no longer a return — see how MyProfit finds lost items.
